works info

One, two, or several series, developed from the insides and outsides of metal painting supports. The colourful works are pigmented resin casts of the inside of the folded metal trays. The silver works are clear resin casts of the outside of the tray. The resin layer pulls any incidental grease, grime, etc., from the metal surface—rather like a print. The silver is deposited on the reverse (i.e.the cast surface) of the clear casts, using a nineteenth-century mirroring technique. Like photographs, they use a very thin layer of deposited silver to reveal a latent image with which the casting process had imbued the resin.

Sizes within the series vary from 21 x 16 cm to 195 x 120 cm. The series was started in 2013 but they are dated back to 2008 because some of the metal had been lying around the studio since then.
