This book reproduces digital images of the photographs presented in the exhibition Other Things. Rather than directly photograph the large exhibition works, the images in the book capture them through their reflections in the surface of the painting from which they were made (each original photograph is a unique record of light reflected from the same painting's surface). Making this layering and interleaving of surfaces even more torturous, in the book the images are printed onto translucent acid-free tissue paper, which is interleaved with cotton rag. The book recapitulates something of the sense of veiling and revelation—and of the gains and losses of inherent in translation—that characterises the production of the exhibition works.
